Our Mission

At Community Kitchen Glos, our mission is to ensure that everyone in Gloucester can access healthy, hearty, home-cooked meals. We are dedicated to addressing food insecurity and creating a supportive, compassionate community, treating all individuals with dignity, respect and kindness empowering both guests and volunteers to thrive.

Our Founding Principles

1. We are run for our community and we are run by our community.
2. We support those in our city who experience food insecurity.
3. Everyone should have access to healthy meals, shared with friends.
4. Every person will be treated with equal respect dignity and kindness.
5. Our community exists for the good of our volunteers too.

Our Offer

Every Monday in the heart of the city centre, we cook and serve a hot, three-course meal which is available for free to anyone. We provide more than just hot food – we aim to create a community, a warm space, company and support for anyone who needs it. We open our doors at 18:30 every Monday and welcome everyone, without exception. For those who do not, or cannot, come in and sit down, we offer a takeaway meal option at 19:30, also served for free to anyone that arrives.

Our Impact

The impact we seek to achieve goes far beyond just putting calories into hungry people. Our most recent Annual Report for 2024 has lots of examples of the wider benefits of our service to both guests and volunteers alike.
